Two Peas in a Pouch
Hop Hop Hooray!
A song inspired by Bluebelle and Sagey, written and composed by Ingrid L Kangas.
Sung by Ingrid L Kangas, Chloe Cini, Aleena H-Olive, Wyatt Mills. Thanks to Brad Williams at River Recordings for playing the banjo, guitar, and compiling the music.
I love our kangaroos, wallabies and all our wildlife.
I volunteered after the 2020 bush fires, longing to help our precious wildlife wherever I could,
After training in 2021, I had the privilege of caring for two orphaned kangaroo joeys, whom I named Bluebelle after our native bluebells here in the Australian bush, Sagey after the soft gentle leafed herb. We also have a variety of Native sage thyme here in the Australian bush.
In 2021 to 2022, I cared for Bluebelle and Sagey Boi ‘ Boi ‘, gifting me so much more understanding of just how precious, emotional, vulnerable and the incredible bond these joeys have with their kangaroo mumma Doe. This inspired the story ‘Two Peas in a Pouch’, with a second book ‘ Two Sweet Bounceeey Feet ‘ coming soon.
May sharing their story bring more understanding, love and protection for our magnificent kangaroos.
Thank you Bluebelle (BB) and Sagey (Sagey Boi’ Boi’) for all you continue to teach me.
A diary based on a true story of two special orphaned kangaroo joeys
Come and bounce with Bluebelle and Sagey, along their journey, engaging with rhyming colourful text, illustrations and photos.
Sharing their delightful moments, of warm milk bottles and lots of yummies too.
A special little roo resort with kind friends helping along the way.
Enjoy a giggle with Bluebelle and Sagey Boi’ Boi’ as they grow their confidence in ‘Hop hop hopping’, and of course sleepy snuggles throughout the day.
Be inspired through the challenges they grow through, and most of all the love these two want to share with You, of how truly amazing our kangaroos are,
with bounceeey love, Bluebelle and Sagey Boi ‘ Boi‘.
I wrote this book from a place of deep love and compassion for our magnificent kangaroos from a guardian mother’s heart, sharing Bluebelle and Sagey’s story gifts greater understanding, endearment, bringing about awareness of just how precious and amazing each kangaroo joey is.
How like us humans, we have vital needs to be loved and cared for, valued and protected, nursed back to health with kindness. Kangaroos suffer like us too with the loss of their mob and family connections and grieve this, they feel fear and stress, they have need for our support and help to eat and travel safely with their mobs and families across this southern land, keeping ecosystems and connections abundant.
To bring about change and awareness so we together can protect these magnificent kangaroos, now into the future.
